WE ARE PLANNING SOME EXCITING SPRING ~ SUMMER 2021 SPECIAL EVENTS VIA ZOOM
LKOC’s “Third Friday” Series of Events
March 19, 2021: Pot et Fleur Baskets. Pam Ross will demonstrate how to make a traditional “Pot et Fleur” basket of potted plants and flowers that can be used year-round to decorate your home. April 16, 2021: Haku Lei Wristlet. Renowned lei maker, Jean Kellerman, will show us how to assemble a haku lei wristlet. May 21, 2021: Guest speaker Celeste Connors, Executive Director of "Hawai’i Green Growth", will update us on what this hub of public-private partnerships has been doing to advance its economic, social, and environmental goals. June 18, 2021: Lei Making with the Much-Maligned He'e Berry. Hillary Aipa, halau kumu, teacher of Hawaiian studies and music, will share with us a way to fashion a lei from the berries of the octopus tree. While it grows wild in Hawaii, it is highly invasive and needs appropriate care. She will talk about the proper protocol for caring for this tree and it’s fruit. July 16, 2021: Tour and Discussion at Foster Gardens. Stay for a picnic lunch! This event will be subject to the whims of COVID-19.
As these events near, we will be sending you invitations on how to participate. All events will be recorded for your viewing pleasure after the fact, and can be seen by clicking <HERE>.
