In 1944, The Outdoor Circle published a lovely book called “Trees and Flowers of the Hawaiian Islands”, which included beautiful hand-tinted photos, a process popular at the time before color photography was widely available. The photographers and botanists who are featured in the book were outstanding in their fields.
Half a century later, The Outdoor Circle had professionally produced reprints made of some of these vintage photos, and we have them for sale.
These are one-of-a-kind reproductions and are beautifully matted and framed in two sizes, 12”x15” ($75) and 17”x21” ($125). There are only 12 available, as shown here.
A description taken from the original book, describing each photo, is included on the back of each frame, a sample of which is shown here.

Each book contains images of native trees in Hawaii, suitable for coloring with colored pencil, magic marker, or crayon. Each of the 9 trees pictured is accompanied by an easy to read description of why and how it is significant to Hawaii.
The trees depicted are ohia, hala, kukui, monkey pod, coconut palm, loulu palm, plumeria, papaya, and gold tree.
The front cover and sample pages are shown.
Size is 8.5”x11” and each book comes in a protective sleeve.
